Vice President, Ron Harris
The Arkansas Home Builders Association members will likely endure some challenges during the next few months. However, these will undoubtedly be met with outstanding leadership from our leadership team in 2015. I feel strongly that this team effort is recognized because of the extra time and dedication put forth to meet our association goals as we move our industry forward as an engine of economic growth for Arkansas.
Companies like JD Power & Associates seem to always have a score incorporating “are we easy to do business with?” One approach I believe to be the cornerstone of excellent association member service is how well one actively listens. The approach I learned when establishing phone and customer care centers is listening to say “Yes” as opposed to listening to say “No”. The two methods of listening are night and day. The “Yes” approach sometimes takes a little longer to respond and requires us to be actively engaged in the conversation. This results, though, in a member that truly believes you AND the association are doing all you can to meet their needs. I believe this philosophy will help establish our Arkansas Home Builders Association members increased recognition as we grow our membership to meet our projected growth in our local industry.
I am excited about the challenges of playing a major role in growing an established association during a time of economic growth for our industry. The accomplishment of this task will allow me to use my knowledge of the industry as a builder member combined with 37 years of utility experience building business relationships across our beloved state.
Please note, throughout my utility career, and community service and now as your new Executive Officer I expect to succeed to a level of national recognition of association growth. This drive to succeed runs deep which motivates me to be proactive in understanding our industry needs to harvest growth.
These will truly be exciting times for the growth of Arkansas Home Builders Association.
