The cost of building homes is going up. The latest Producer Price Index released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics shows that prices of softwood lumber, gypsum, ready-mix concrete and OSB all rose in February. The increases were led by gypsum products, with softwood lumber a close second.
WHAT’S NEXT IN CAREER EDUCATION FOR NWA HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS
In 2020, the second class of seniors will be graduating from the Don Tyson School of Innovation. The school follows a model of personalized education that gives students flexibility to move through coursework at their own pace.
NWA CONSIDERED 22ND FASTEST GROWING
METRO AREA
Northwest Arkansas was the 22nd fastest-growing metro area in the country last year, according to population estimates released in March. The estimated population of the area increased 2.3% between 2015 and 2016 according to the Census Bureau.

This year, the NWA HBA Foundations plans to participate in a day of giving in Arkansas. On April 6, non-profits from around the state are reaching out to the public to ask them to give. The Arkansas Community Foundation started this day of giving and adds the opportunity to earn bonus dollars for each non-profit that participates. All donations given to the Foundation help support students interested in the construction trades industry.
OSHA COURSES AT NWACC
NWACC is offering educational OSHA 500 and 501 classes. Classes will be held at the community college in Bentonville. If you have questions about these courses you can contact Cindy Hammons at NWACC.
